All About Us!

My name is Darcie Voorhees. My husband Gabe and I have been married 24 years. We have four children, ages 18, 20, 22 and 23 and live on an acreage in central Alberta near Drayton Valley. We raise chickens for eggs, and looking at raising some beef steers in the near future. We love music, playing multiple instruments each, and I have taught piano lessons for the better part of 20 years.

When we were first married, we had a chocolate lab named Ali. She was an unregistered purebred. Later on we acquired our yellow stud, Blaze, and had a few litters from them.  Blaze retired on a farm, and Ali was with us until the spring of 2012 when she developed cancer and we had to say goodbye.
Shortly after her death, we decided we'd like to get more involved in breeding. We purchased our CKC registered yellow labs and were on our way! Our original dogs, Gunner, Brinley and Sasha are now over 8 years old and we love them so much.

I have my Animal Health Technologist degree and love being able to put some of that knowledge to use in our breeding program when it comes to whelping, vaccinating, microchipping and deworming.  All of that schooling needs to be put to use somehow for this stay-at-home mom!!

In August of 2024 we moved our home, kennel and family from our 3 acres near Tofield, AB, to over 15 acres near Drayton Valley, AB. Our dogs are penned on our property, being run every day and able to swim in our creek and run in the pasture and forest. They love to fetch and swim, and have such a great time playing tug-of-war with any stick or toy!
Our pups are born in our whelping shed, cozy and away from the rest of the dogs. We have a large dog yard for the adults to play in, and so much space for all.  Once the pups are vaccinated they are moved out to one of the new pens where they have a large area to play.

If you have any questions or would like to come for a visit, please let me know! We would love to meet you and show off our beautiful Labs!
